Today marks the 11- year anniversary of one of America’s greatest tragedies. September 11, 2001 is a day that we can never forget. It is important for all of us to remember and honor the men and women who lost their lives, and the men and women who stepped in to help. In doing such, we should also remember the heroic search and rescue dogs who, along with their handlers, risked their lives to help save the victims of these horrific attacks. Hundreds of search and rescue dogs were deployed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help find survivors at both the World Trade Center and Pentagon sites. My doberman Sadie was one of these dogs.
